Zero & First Conditional — Gerçek Koşul Cümleleri (-rsa ...r / -rsa ...acak)
Zero Conditional her zaman doğru olan genel gerçekleri anlatır: 'Suyu ısıtırsan kaynar.' First Conditional ise gelecekte gerçekleşmesi mümkün olan durumları ve sonuçlarını anlatır: Türkçedeki '-rsa ...acak' (yağmur yağarsa evde kalacağız). En önemli kural: 'if' tarafında 'will' kullanılmaz.
Ne zaman kullanılır?
Zero: genel gerçekler ve bilimsel olgular
If you heat ice, it melts.
Zero: kişisel alışkanlık ve kurallar
If I drink coffee after 6, I can't sleep.
First: gelecekteki gerçekçi olasılık
If it rains tomorrow, we'll stay at home.
First: uyarı ve tehdit
If you don't hurry, you'll miss the bus.
First: 'unless' (-madıkça) ile
We won't go unless you feel better.

'If' tarafında 'will' kullanılmaz; Türkçede de 'yağacaksa' değil 'yağarsa' deriz.

'Unless' zaten 'if not' anlamındadır; ikinci bir olumsuzluk eklenmez.

Koşul kısmında Present Simple kullanılır.
✗ If you heat water at 100 degrees, it will boil always.
✓ If you heat water to 100 degrees, it boils.
Her zaman doğru olan gerçekler için Zero Conditional (Present Simple + Present Simple) kullanılır.
Konuşmada nasıl kullanılır?
- 'If' cümlesi başta ise virgül koyun; sonda ise virgül gerekmez: 'I'll call you if I'm late.' Konuşmada ikisi de çok doğal.
- 'I'll' ve 'won't' kısaltmalarını kullanın: 'If you're hungry, I'll make something.'
- Teklif ve öneri için harika bir kalıptır: 'If you want, I can pick you up.'
- 'As long as' (yeter ki, -dığı sürece) konuşmada çok sık duyulur: 'You can borrow my car as long as you're careful.'
Konuşma görevi
Sırayla birbirinize 'If...' ile başlayan cümle zinciri kurun: birinizin sonucu diğerinin koşulu olsun ('If we save money, we'll go to Italy.' → 'If we go to Italy, we'll eat a lot of pasta.' ...). Sonra şu soruları sorun: 'What will you do if it's sunny this weekend?', 'What happens if you don't sleep enough?', 'What will we do if our flight is cancelled?', 'What do you usually do if you feel stressed?'
